Contrary to what many say, having trials of life is not a sign of God’s disapproval or abandonment. It is a sign of God’s working in your life and His confidence in what you can bear. The process of refining gold with fire goes back to ancient times. Though technology has brought about automation and advancements in safety and control, this process is still relevant today. The process involves kindling the flames to very high temperatures, sometimes in excess of 1000 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, all impurities are either burnt up or separated from gold. Now, is life and character not more important than gold? Indeed, an individual person can impact the world more than a ton of gold ever will. For such an impact to be realised, one’s character needs to be tried and purified in the high temperatures of life.
